CSPromod 1.09 changelog + game status

    Hey Everyone,

We wanted to say hello and offer a little bit of a heads up to all of you who are eagerly awaiting updates on the game and wondering what's happening.

Over the past year, we’ve ironed out a lot of major bugs and added some really cool and exciting features, such as both team and free-for-all deathmatch aswell as Goldsource's (1.6) sound spatialisation. Some of you had the chance to sample the most recent version of the game during our 1.09 testing session earlier in March; we'd like to thank all of you for the valuable feedback you provided. A full breakdown of the changes and additions that have been implemented over the past year is provided in the changelog

Although version 1.09 is now nearing completion, we don’t feel that it's the right time to release our update, with CS:GO so close to launch. Therefore, we will wait to release 1.09 until after CS:GO has been out for a little while. For those of you who are concerned about CSP in relation to CS:GO, have no fear - we don't view the two as affecting one another.

CS:GO is not meant to be an eSports or competition-focused title, but rather an easily digestible, fun-to-play team-based FPS targeted at a mainstream gaming audience. CSP, on the other hand, is designed to be the perfect team-based FPS for eSports and competitive play. We view CSP and CS:GO as two very different games, targeted at completely different audiences. As such, CS:GO won’t impact us in any significant way.

Last, and most importantly, we want everyone to know that we have very, very large ambitions for CSPromod. eSports needs a team-based FPS designed for competition and spectatorship, and we believe that we can fulfill that need. Up until this point, we feel that we've been a nice, small dev team, with an admittedly slow development pace, but a dev team that's at the end of the day produced a really good game. We know that we have to scale up our dev team and drastically speed up our development pace in order to accomplish our lofty long-term goals. And so, that's exactly what we're planning on doing.

We'll be announcing more details on our long-term plans along with the release of 1.09. But for now, we want all of you to know that we firmly believe that, with the upcoming growth and changes we're about to undergo, we will be able to provide the eSports and competitive community with the team-based FPS title it so desperately needs.

Stay tuned, and make sure to look out for our 1.09 release, and the announcement of our long term plans, in the very near future.

    We CS.

    Regards,
    The CSPromod Development Team

What the fuck? Sure, the gameplay might have two different target audiences but CS:GO is about to be picked up competitively aswell. You guys missed that Dreamhack gives away 300 000 SEK in their CS:GO-tourney?!
