Very interesting article from Lurpis:
Instead of round robin, he's proposing something like a mini double elimination tree within each group... sounds freaky but way better to avoid silly tie breakers, scheduling issues, pointless matches and teams throwing matches.
Additionally he mentions re-seeding every round in the brackets to prevent teams from aiming for the 2nd place in the group to avoid certain teams.
What I liked about Q4 is that you could join servers in 'tournament-mode', it's only a 1on1 game and the matches went very fast, but it had the whole tournament tree and you could spec others... - don't think this would work for cs though... (you deff. need an array of servers to have simultaneous games, with a centralized tournament management & scheduling system).
