    Another feedback thread (1.07)

    Hello.

I played the latest version yesterday and also today some time, and so far this is my feedback.

    Movement:

You did an awesome job there, the movement seems perfect.
I am not sure if it is the jump heigth or the size of several boxes but you are able to jump on several boxes that you shouldn't, so this might be the single minor issue but nothing gamebreaking.

    Models/Sounds:

All these CS:Source weapon models (don't even know if they are from source or your own models) just suck.
I mean, obviously one of the goals of the CSP is to make a good looking CS1.6, but these models just dont make it feel good.
As soon as you use the community made 1.6 models, the game just feels so much more awesome!

I am not sure how you could fix that, except for some option to switch between cs1.6 models (officially, so sv_pure can be 1) and the existing ones or just creating your very own CS1.6 like new looking models.

Also the sounds, weaponsounds are very annoying - with old 1.6 sounds it's just perfect!

Material sounds are verrrry bad. On csp_train as terrorist, i feel like walking through snow and gravel.
Nearly all of the material sounds need fixes imo.
Good thing is that there are different materials at all, like on inferno the wood over the sand box on A etc. - gives some tactical advantages more.

Also, you fixed the sound ranges but they still seem off, i am able to hear people miles away, also the sounds are very dull and often hard to "read".

    Gameplay:

Grenades are nice, you matched the 1.6 grenades nearly perfectly!
One little issue seem to come from the player models, they block the grenades way to high. You basically cant go door rush on nuke as T, due to not being able to throw grenades over the head of others.

About the Weapons - or - the hitboxes...
I am not sure which one of these are the issue, but something seems verrry wrong here.
I am hosting an server and watched several people play on it yesterday and noticed, that some of them hit like they are young gods of CS - others can stick the weapons up the enemy´s throat but dont hit anything.

Funny thing, you seem to have matched cs1.6 perfectly with that.. Just kidding, but you just have to check that.

    ------------------------

Basically i really like the latest CSP really much, and i am happy that so many people - this time - think the same.

Player Models are nice to have, but i think you should, for the next major update, focus on sounds (weapon, range, materials) and weapons/netcode/whatever the issue is with the hitting.

After that i'd say the game would be something that lets me switch from 1.6 to CSP, and 1.6 can be buried.

    Regards,
    howligH

    okay i go through this

okay those 'beeing able to jump on boxes' is because of the floor in csp is not flat like in cs1.6, the floor is a displacement, its possible that next to boxes the floor is not lowered so u cant jump on the boxes. PLEASE provide us with screenshots of the sverall boxes, places u should not be able to jump on. tahnks

Note: some boxes are NEW able to jump on, like the one in csp_dust2 upper middle, next to the two "green" boost boxes.

I disagree with the models part, i wont be using models of 1999 -.-'' i never liked source models as they were in source but with the angles origins and interp lag or how is it named, it just feels so cs1.6 like *.*

#1 Source vs GoldSrc sound system is very different. It's hard to tweak that right away.
#2 Grenades currently bounce/collide with player's bounding box but it should bounce out of player hitboxes or collision model -> known issue.
#3 There is currently huge choke issue which MIGHT affect networking.
1.09 will be released before/around CS:GO's release date as there isn't all too much to finish off (contrary to Yuri's opinion) - Saul 6/7/2012

i dont have a problem with the weapon models... in my opinon it just feels wrong because of the css weapon & material sounds..

I agree, I think Source weapons model are mostly file, the sounds must be replaced and ALSO the sounds must also be overhauled, too many wrong footsteps that. As howligH said, it's very hard to "read" other's position using the current sound system, I gave up using my headphones since they were useless in Promod, but the interesting part is that in Source the sounds is "readable", you can hear where your enemy is and react correspondly, and it's completely the same game engine.

Maybe it's caused by height older models?
This is current model bounding box.
