    [Items] Simple Items

Hello, I'm here today to bring forth an idea that has been seen in plenty of Quake games and modifications. This idea is simply put as "Simple Items", what this does is replace weapon pickups with a simple sprite image that faces the player at all times.

In the Quake games you can choose between having simple items turned off or on by changing the integer of the cvar cg_simpleitems. I believe that most Quake players choose to turn cg_simpleitems on as it does what it says on the tin. It makes items easily recognizable even from far distances through a simple shape and color coding.

Here's an example of how it could look in CSPromod (Please bare in mind that I'm not the best graphic artist in the universe).
To the left we have simple items off and to the right we have simple items on.

Here is cg_simpleitems 1 put into action in Quake-Live.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention about the ability to change the size of the items by setting simpleitems from 1 to 2. (Meaning that players can scale their simple items by changing the number from 1 to 2).

He's got a point. I'd say no for simple items because the gameplay is diffirent. In counter-strike w get a bit bigger dose of realism, and all the things we should need is "where the bomb is". T's have it on radar, and ct's should comunicate to make it harder for them and so they can do mistakes. If it's that way with the most important item in the game then i dont see the point of adding such a feature for other items. Yet meaby just highlighting an item (possibly just defusers or bomb) for ct's while having crosshair on it is what I'd like us to reconsider. On lower resolutions on big distances it's harder to see some items than on higher resolutions.

But having big 2d sprites instead of 3d items is something too drastic for today in counter-strike.

That's not what he meant, they couldn't write "HLTV Style" for some stupid reason but it doesn't change the fact that it's still HLTV Style Weapon Switch.
