    CSP_aztec Beta 1

Not long ago d0ublethink proposed to me that the 1.5 version of Aztec had potential as a modern competitive layout. With some changes it could potentially bring back some of those nostalgic memories I'm sure all you pre-1.6 players remember.

I've been working closely with d0ublethink on the layout of the map, and have made some minor and more significant changes to the layout, ranging from repositioned crates to a new room and connectors. Here is the current layout, we feel that it is solid but it needs to be tested and tweaked to get it just right.

In terms of visuals, I decided that Sources resources did not cut it, so the map is currently painted with custom textures made by myself. I think they help convey the more nostalgic look of Aztec.

Anyhow, I've finished the layout and a lot of detail work in the map and I feel that it is ready to be taken seriously and tested to perfect the layout.

I hope you guys enjoy the map, and feedback would be much appreciated!

    NOTE:

The filesize is quite large at over 30mb for the compressed map, this is due to all of the custom textures of which most are 1024x1024 px and normal mapped! Rest assured that it's worth it

Plays VERY well from what I've seen in PUG.
No longer so AWP biased which makes this map much more strat based as j0lt has worked on a few small additions to the map whilst not overdoing it.

Hope everyone enjoys this and hopefully when it's complete, it will become an official war map for many competitions in the future bringing back aztec from the grave

I'll tell you the same thing he's always told me. Don't worry about boost spots. I know they're there and I will get to them.

That's the gist of it anyway

Haha, well that's a pretty bad one that I totally neglected. I tried to fix the bad ones like that but I'm not worried about 3 mans and that kind of stuff right now because it will all change when I add the 3d skybox.

Just by seeing map's overview, I think that ext. bomb site will always be hard to take for T ^^! To be tested !

It's looking really nice and clean!

I admire your effort in taking the extra detailing, I just love how you made that hole in the wall above the doors heading to A, will it be usable with a 1 player boost for the terrorists? It looks like it because of the extra holes you added for the edge, so they can't exploit further, so I assume you were making it accessible.

One thing I noticed was the texturing at the ramp in front of the terrorists awp room, it just doesn't fit that well imo, since the texture is meant for big blocks in the wall, but the railway makes it look awkward. But that is just my opinion though.

Would look better if you change these stair textures to stone:
