Without further ado here is the anticipated but slightly delayed patch to get CSPromod running again.
We would have liked to release it concurrent with the CS:S update but things didn't go as planned.

Anyway if you have 1.04 already installed all you need is this ~7.38MB hotfix .zip archive, extract it to your SourceMods/ folder, restart Steam and you're good to go again.
Server hosts also only need this single patch (it contains the Linux .so as well). Also there is a slight inconvenience with setting up a CSPromod 1.04 server as of now: read about it here! Also make sure to backup your server.cfg if needed.

If however you do not have CSPromod installed you will first need to download and install or extract the full 1.04 release and then apply the patch on top of that.

After extracting the patch CSPromod BETA 1.04 will run off the "Source SDK Base 2006". It will download automatically if you don't have it installed yet. Also make sure to restart Steam!
This hotfix also contains a few other bug fixes and updates that we made prior to our Source Engine 2007 port. The full list of patch notes as usual are in our official changelog.

In case you would like to host the 1.04 hotfix or if you encounter any problems please contact amogan@cspromod.com or post in the forums.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hello all!

Just taking a moment to fill everyone in on what has been going on. These past few weeks have been insane for CS:S with the port to Mac OSX, Orange Box, and the drastic changes imposed on players.

First of all, we have a quick fix for CSP 1.04 which will allow it to work with the new file structure. I know most are curious about 1.05, and we understand, but its important to patch this ASAP.

For CSP 1.05, both new smaller player models are in game. They are no more then 63 units tall, with view height of exactly 53 units. Animations are about 70% complete, these are "first run" animations, sort of like alpha. Its exciting to see them, but the game is not yet ready for wide testing. Mazzer has literally put in 1-2 hours or more A DAY of his own personal time to make these a reality.

Now, another issue which has been a heated discussion just about everywhere, is the removal of the -tickrate command from CS:S. It is absolutely insane to limit the server admins in this way, and it seems they are already using plugins to hack around this, but why should they have to do this? In light of this decision, I have decided to default CSP 1.05 to 100 tick. The -tickrate command will still be there, and work perfectly for those who want to run 66 for lower bandwidth or older hardware situations..

So the long story short is, CSP 1.05 will see public release in 2010, with new models. It will support both 66 and 100 tick. It will have working server side physics for both, and give the players what they want. If we find any discrepancies due to tickrate, we will spend however long it takes to correct them, because Counter-Strike is worth the effort.

As a final note, about the website. I'm sure many of you noticed it was down for about a week. We were being graciously hosted by Ted's friend John 'bor3d' Lewis. He was hosting us 100% for free during the most busy time this mod had ever seen. We did thousands of gigs of raw throughput on his service, and we all just wanted to say thank you to him for all his help. We are on DreamHost for now, we may move once more, but it will be done without any downtime if we migrate.

So, thanks to all of you who still check in on us. 2010 is going to be a great year for CSP. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Here's the news with the live stream added as well as all the spectator information you need.
Also, there will be a post-match interview at 4 PM EST / 22:00 CET with Parik "cArn" Sattermon (fnatic) and Mark "PhP" Kadek (Reason).

We're very excited to announce today that Fnatic CS 1.6 and Reason Gaming CSS, arguably the world's two best teams at their respective games, have agreed to participate in a CSPromod Beta 1.04 showmatch. The exhibition will take place on Sunday 21st March at 20:00 CET, and will be covered by the prestigious journalism and broadcasting outlets Cadred.org and QuadV. This should be a both interesting and exciting piece of entertainment, as the 1.6 vs. Source debate has long been a subplot to the development of CSPromod. While we hope that members of both communities are becoming open to the possibility of uniting under CSP, the showmatch should be a fun experience for those who remember the most heated of the 1.6 vs. Source days.

CSPromod Project Director Alex Garfield had this to say about the showmatch:

"We're very excited that such high-profile teams, media, and broadcasters have come together to make this match happen. The 1.6/Source debate has been one of the Counter-Strike community's most intense dialogues over the past several years, and thus we expect this match-up to draw passionate interest from players in both camps," said Alexander Garfield, Project Director for CSPromod. "Furthermore, we hope that the execution of a successful exhibition match between two of the world's best Counter-Strike teams illustrates to the community how close CSPromod really is to being competitively a viable game."

The full announcement is available here.

We hope you have all been enjoying the first week of CSPromod Beta 1.04's public release. Over the past six days, we have been receiving encouraging and useful feedback from many areas of eSports, including community members, professional players, leagues, and broadcasters. We've already begun work on 1.05, as that's the next big milestone for this project.

CSPromod Beta 1.04 has obviously been a very hot topic of conversation this week, as many individuals have questions and comments on where CSP is right now, and where it can, should, and shouldn't go. This Sunday (tomorrow) on Live on Three, the pro gaming broadcast brought to you by djWHEAT, SirScoots, and Slasher, CSP's Project Manager Alex Garfield will be coming on air to discuss CSPromod and field questions from live call-ins. Make sure you tune and call in, and don't miss what will certainly be an in-depth and passionate discussion.

Here's Live on Three's official press release: "After one week of public release for CSPromod, including reactions from the pro-player community in both 1.6 and Source, along with the media's thoughts, Project Manager Alex Garfield will be a guest on Live on Three this Sunday at 4PM EST/22:00 CET. We will be talking about how the release has gone thus far, and if things have gone as expected, better, or worse, his reactions to the player and media statements, more information and hopefully a general release date for 1.05, and what the plan is for CSPromod for the future of the Counter-Strike community."

Live on Three airs this Sunday (tomorrow), February 7th, at 4PM EST/22:00 CET, at http://www.djWHEAT.tv

Perhaps the hottest topic of discussion with regards to CSP Beta 1.04 has been a feature that's actually not in 1.04 - the upcoming model and animation fixes to be released in Beta 1.05. Many have said that they just don't know how to judge the feel of CSPromod with the Source models in there, and have been asking where exactly we are in the process of implementing the new models and animations.

Well, thanks to our brilliant animator Matt "mazzer" Maslen, we're able to give everyone a window into our progress with the new 1.6-style models and animations. Take a look at the video - we feel that it speaks for itself, and we hope that everyone likes the progress so far!
Several weeks ago, our friends at Cadred.org released a news post offering their community members the opportunity to submit some questions about CSPromod, under the premise that the best queries would be sent off to me (CSP's Project Director) and subsequently answered. Now, on the eve of our release, we're pleased to announce that Cadred has published an article containing my answers to some of those select questions. Make sure to check it out, and we hope to see you tomorrow when we release CSP Beta 1.04!

Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone,

First, I wanted to say thanks to all of you for being patient as we continue to work on our much-anticipated Beta 1.04 version. Over the past few months since the release of our new website, we've continued to make great progress on Beta 1.04, and you guys have been able to follow some of this progress on our developer logs here at CSPromod.com. For those who haven't kept up with the logs, I'll give you a brief update on our release status:

Right now, gameplay-wise, we think that we're just about ready for a release. Thanks to countless hours of play time on the part of our beta testing team, and much tweaking by mizzack and doublethink, we feel very good about the feel of the game; its gun behavior, movement, interface, and other mechanics are all (while not perfect) certainly release-worthy at this point. However, before we actually do release, we want to hammer out the lingering issue of player models and animations. As many of you know, the CS 1.6 player model's size and viewheight, as well as its movement and headshot animations, combine to play a crucial role in defining the feel of 1.6 that so many of us know and love. While we have completed development of custom, resized player models, we aren't quite finished with the animations yet. We'd like to finish those, and get the resized models (with fixed viewheights) into the game, before releasing Beta 1.04.

We're currently happy with the pace of the progress being made on the player model animations, so we'll most likely wait until those are done to release Beta 1.04. However, at the same time, we don't want to keep you guys waiting unnecessarily. So there's a small chance that, if the animating work drags out, we'll release Beta 1.04 without the model changes, and add those fixes later in Beta 1.05. However, the plan for now is to release Beta 1.04 when the models are ready.

With that quick update out of the way, I'm happy to be able to update you all on an exciting new development from our mapping department. Recently, our Head Mapper Ted "Cashed" McIlwain finished his final touches on our five official competition maps: csp_dust2, csp_inferno, csp_nuke, csp_season, and csp_train. This is obviously great news because it means that our maps are all release-worthy, but it's also exciting because it's now allowed us to now focus on another mapping-related goal of CSPromod: to provide the community with an official package of useful, well thought-out aim maps.

So, over the past few weeks, under the watchful eye of Cashed, our Art Director Ludovic "alba" Slangen has teamed up with mappers "S!rk" and "Redstar," and begun work on the CSPromod Aim Map Series, which will (initially) include five official aim maps:

csp_aim_arena: A complete remake/reimagination of aim_ak_map, designed to act as practice yard for any buyable weapon (not including grenades and the AWP).
csp_aim_pistol: Another original CSPromod aim map, created specifically for pistol training.
csp_aim_map: A CSPromod remake of the community-favorite aim_map from CS 1.6.
csp_aim_akcolt: A CSPromod remake of the long beloved aim_ak-colt from CS 1.6.
csp_aim_awp: Another original CSPromod aim map, created specifically for AWP practice.

Finishing and releasing the CSPromod Aim Map Series will be the next mapping-related objective for our development team. We're currently fairly early in the process of creating the CSP aim maps, but progress is moving quite quickly on this particular item, so we're already able to provide you with some media (see below).

We'll make sure to update you guys as soon as we have more information about the aim maps and/or, of course, a release date for Beta 1.04.

Thanks,

Alex Garfield
Project Director, CSPromod

Now that Biohaz4rd and I are done with the base for the website (we'll be updating it overtime, don't worry) I decided to make sure the other plan I had in mind was to keep the website fresh for everyone but most importantly keep the content flowing as much as possible so you guys can comment on it, give us your thoughts and make sure we have a better product in the end because of that.

So for today it will be the first of a few different videos to show off some specific areas of the mod. Off the top of my head what we would like to do is have two types of videos (developer logs & behind the scene). Developer logs as you know will be videos joined with the corresponding forum post of CSPromod developer. Behind the scene on the other hand, will be footage of work in progress or specific features we're working on where we would want some kind of community feedback to help us make some critical decisions but of course it won't always have videos, it might just be screenshots too.

Since our media page is able to handle Youtube HD videos, we will be posting them both in there as well as in the news itself. The video for this news post will be a quick map overview of all the current maps distributed with the official release. It'll focus on showing you part of the maps and just give you an overall look at what the map will look like, the goal is to always improve them with community feedback and make sure they're as good as they can be.

Here is the video "Map Preview" video made by our one and only Redstar (Make sure to watch it in HD).
[youtube:3nlqyz0j]NWoaaNLgxvk[/youtube:3nlqyz0j]

The next video we have planned will be the long awaited one I promised you guys a little while ago with the whole HUD animation process and how it look from within the game and showing you guys how we do the radar and what changes we made to that. So look forward to that in the near future.

While we're at it, we'll post the in-game screenshots from our Moddb account in here too. They'll be added to the media section soon along with new in-game screenshots.

Enjoy and make sure to give us your feedback and comments on the forums.

Members of the Counter-Strike Community,

After months of development, and much hard work on the part of CSPromod team members Mike "d0ublethink" Askins (Development Manager), Ludovic "alba" Slangen (Art Director), and Steven "Biohaz4rd" Weathers (Web Developer), we’re very pleased to present the new and improved CSPromod.com. As we move closer and closer to the long-awaited release of CSP Beta 1.04, the community’s constant involvement, input, and participation will become increasingly more crucial to this project’s success.

CSPromod represents the Counter-Strike community’s first opportunity to tweak, polish, and improve a version of the game that we can truly call our very own. What most people don’t realize is that code-wise, CSPromod isn’t really a modification at all: it’s 100% custom-coded from the ground up, and only uses graphical assets, such as models and textures, from CS:Source. Because of this, CSPromod really is – with no exaggeration – completely customizable and fully capable of growing into whatever we all want it to be. Best of all, because the code is 100% custom, CSPromod’s gameplay can be preserved and ported from engine to engine as time goes by.

With these fundamental facts in mind, the new CSPromod.com has been designed to function as the medium of communication between the CSPromod development team and the very passionate Counter-Srike community. We need all of your help and feedback in order to keep refining and polishing CSPromod, and so we hope you’ll check out the site’s following features, designed to keep everyone interested and involved in the project:

Developer Logs: The community has long clamored for a bigger, and more frequent, window into the game’s development process. Now that we’re actually at a point where we have a good game to update you all on, we’re happy to provide that window. Check out our dev logs to learn about everything from how we tweaked fall damage values, to the most recent visual update of csp_nuke.

Forums & Community Polling: The most important part of the website in terms of the growth and success of the project. Join our community and participate in the CSPromod development process by providing your thoughts and feedback in our polls and forums.

Media Page: We’ve put together a more organized, recently-updated media page with map screenshots, model updates, and (soon) gameplay videos.

Development Team Roster: Learn more about who’s behind CSPromod, and about how to hunt down Alex when you find something that you don’t like (note: seriously, please don’t hunt down Alex).

Social Networking: To try and be as conformist as possible, we’ve updated CSPromod’s pages on Twitter, Facebook, ModDB, and the Steam Community. Please show your support by joining so we can provide you with important updates.

Anyway, we hope you like the new website. Bear with us as we quickly approach the release of CSP Beta 1.04.
