Hey Everyone,
Progress has been going well with inferno as of late. More detail has been added without FPS hits, and I'm happy to say it's almost ready for public release. Feedback is always welcome, so post your thoughts/opinions about the map images in this thread.

Very very nice cashed, public hits coming up ;) I realy can't wait! Things are starting to look a hell of a lot up lately for CSP. Oh cashed the smilies has every type of emotion but a love one, this sucks personally.
p.s I wanted to send you love.
windows in banana still look weird tho :/
Also, in the Alt_mid, the string with clothes on is pretty useless (along with the door in B bombspot, but that is still ok), and the sand pit in A bombspot looks more like straw to me oO:(
would be nice to see it a little brighter like the original 1.6 inferno?

man this looks almost perfect to me. nice brightness, nice fog/clouds, nice and well chosen textures..
also like that string with clothes.. i think it´s a small detail which doesn't affect gameplay.
mmh maybe remove that csp-logo at banana.. i think it´s enaugh to place one at the ct spawn.
csp-logo at banana doesn't really fit there.
also i don't like the ceiling-construction-texture which you can see at the wall on pic 6 (upper right corner). none of the other buildings has such a texture.. it looks a bit disturbing to me.
further you have not fixed the fence on pic 2.. near to the sand pit. you still have the little wall there.
really can´t wait to play with the new player-models and reorigined weapon-models on that map. i think it´ll feel like counter-strike 1.6:source x)

Gr8 job. It looks really nice. The only thing I can think of changing abit is the mountains/enviorment around it, the mountains just look so blurry, like it's zoomed in and like it was taking from 1.5...

I have to agree with you, the seconf$d has that bright inferno look (: but it might be brightness/other graphical settings that are diffrent on the screeshot...

I do agree that the CSP logo on banana looks kind of out of place, but other than that it's perfect. I also had a simple idea for the windows at banana. Put some kind of mesh over the windows to make it look something like this.

I'd have to say it looks amazing. I didn't spot too many problems. I liked how you faded the csp logo in ct spawn, very nice touch. But one thing caught my eye RIGHT away. It seemed as though pit went a little too far back(2).

Another thing I noticed is that the fence with the pipes is gone and has been replaced with a house and a brick wall. All in all, it's very nice, but with one problem. The fence that used to be there was useful in a way because you could look through it to see if there was a player in the back corner of pit from jungle (ct spawn side mid).
Last thing i noticed, but it's probably nothing cause I haven't had a chance to play the map as of yet. It seems like you can't pass between the light post and the crate in circle #3. Cause that's one of my favorite spots to play in site A.
OH! and one other thing. When I'm playing ferno in 1.6. I get a sorta orange feeling throughout the entire map. This isn't a big deal or anything, just wondering if it would make the map feel more genuine...?
Besides that, map looks freaking great!

Okay, so I was looking through some of the other pictures a little more closely. The light post in banana seems to be a little too tall. The light post in 1.6 seemed to be a little bit taller than 128 units. It was possible to boost up on top of it, which would gain you access to the side of the roof. Here's a video of a boost some kids did. they didn't do the boost the same way as I do with my team. It's at the 1:05 min mark.

But there are 2 things that have to be tweaked. I made some images to make it easier to understand.
First things are the pillars shown on the image. The small one on the left has to be removed an the pillars in middle have to be cutted more to the top direction (sry there are missing some words i like to use in my english :P). Hope the 1.6 screen will help to see what I mean.

the banana exploit will not be included mainly because its impractical. yes we all love it but it really isn't a crucial gameplay spot.

I think its alot better, and im glad your reducing exploits and stuff, that way each league that hosts this game, won't have crappy rules that are different from the next. IE. one league says "You can't boost on that rock" and the next says "You can boost on that rock, but not on that wall next to it"

The only thing I could say I feel indifferent about is the logo on banana. I'd suggest putting that logo in T spawn (on the left wall, where there used to be three shuttered windows up high in 1.6).

They have good point, but keep in mind this is a remake, not a COPY.
I would like to see the boxes from 1.3 in the map, it's giving some new spots :).
if there will be the some crates like in 1.3 the it would be ok, cause it is a useful position then. but the small pillar seen on the screens can't be used as a secure position or maybe you forget that it is there an run righti n to it while running away from the enemy :D
I think it should be removed or improved to make it more useful :)

I really like this version except for these ugly green weeds on the rooftops in banana and alt-mid. From my point of view inferno should be a bright map but these weeds make it dark (bombsite b just looks PERFECT).

Further I think the doorframe of stone (marked BLUE) is too bright.. Maybe darken the texture..
(You corrected the trees, right? They look a lot better now!!!)
The brightness of the map overall is ok.. but it would be better to do a middle-thing between your earlyer version and this one. A little bit lighter than this version, but not too light. Leave HDR optional.

Why would cashed remove the csp logo in banana, its barely distracting at all, especially seeing as it has a faded and weathered look to it. It blends really well and should stay for sure.
It's not an add cause we all know we're playing csp. It's for the ppl that take the map and host it on a cs:s server. So that maybe those dummies will see the difference and check out csp.

i think people will notice, that it´s a CSProMod-Map by reading the map-name and also by seeing the logo at ct-spawn.
there is no need to place the csp-logo everywhere in the map..
besides of that they should better place logos/advertisement etc. in some less eye-catching places of the map (ct-spawn, t-spawn.. or maybe even at a bombspot..).

Great rebuttal, I have no choice but to agree with you.
About the map though. My biggest concerns are mid with the pillars, would love to see them the same shape as 1.6 and also the "problem" with pit going too far back.
Other than that, textures don't really bother me, seeing as they don't actually affect core gameplay mechanics that much. Can't wait for your next update :D

My thoughts: The layout looks exactly like 1.6(or almost), but..Meh, I don't get the whole 1.6 feeling.I don't know..Maybe the textures?Or maybe it is too dark?I don't really know.
Oh and IMO, I think you should take that door out in the banana.Don't transform it in a Source map..

I think he means an APC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armoured_personnel_carrier) (Armoured Personnel Carrier). I think there was one of them in the CSS version of inferno.
Map already looks Sourcey enough, I think CT Spawn looks great without the openness of adding an APC and invisible brushes and stuff.

yeah, I know, it looks better without the tank in spawn CT, but in the csp_inferno video, you can see that the tank (or APC I don't know how it's called) is still in spawn ct, so I hope Cashed didn't include it for the final version of inferno :D

cashed, my humble suggestion is to remove the blue door at banana.
when u do this your inf is done and ready to launch.
PS u can think again about 1.3-style crates from my older post :)

The only thing I see with the map that is not perfect are those funny arch window things on banana. The textures don't work with the rest of the wall. If you can somehow fix that it will be perfect ;)

Well maybe it looks better ingame than it does in the screenshots ;) I won't doubt you. On the screenshots it just looks like the texture of the arches contrasts with the wall texture too much, but it's not even that bad really. Just the only thing I can think of that could be improved (even if just a little bit) :P

other than those minor minor things which most have been mentioned, the map looks phenomenal.

The pit wall should go back to being a fence again. You could see people few it and it helped a lot when spotting to see if the enemy was coming over mini pit into site. Also an awper was able to scope from the wall oppisite arch and spot through the fence.

Yeah I agree with this, even though it is difficult sometimes it helps.

ya it helps but its not realistic. remember csp and the maps are not direct ports. once play testing has gotten through with the new inferno the option of changing things will emerge. right now its a mix of 1.6 and css. Css had a full wall, 1.6 had a fence that acted like a wall but you couldn't shoot though it.

I think the map looks better than the 1.6 version, who cares if there is an arch, its just to make it look pretty, although its not going to effect game play, unless you enjoy getting sidetracked.... :!:

An exact date would make things happen a littlebit faster.... don't U think?
In case of a deadline the members of the dev.team would work every day enought to be ready with the work.
But what's the situation now? They have no deadline, so they think they can work as long as they want, they probably don't spend enough time for the developement.
If we can talk about a deadline, than the developers know that the work has to be done in an interval.

Um, deadlines have been seen before. It's not like setting deadlines legally forces you to finish something; if they're not finished till the deadline, they'll just push it even forward. Broken promises are far more frustrating than a slow progress.

Its slow due lack of the coders. If there was an army of free C++ coders with game development exps, future cs interest AND no salary demands development would be fast and awesome.
U know this is the toughest part of every free mod :)

I remember reading once on the forums that there's not a lack of coders working on the project becase they're hard to find, it's because it's hard to find the developers with the same love for CS and the interest in keeping esports in CS alive.

just a little quick suggestion from bombsite a i believe it is you can go into a room with a window and snipe down alt mid in the source version you can jump into that room from alt mid and it was convenient plz add this also in a bombsite between the lamppost and the wall could you please ad a wooden fence just for a little protection for the ct team. my rant is done.

As for the hook, who cares. Like someone else said, it just adds visual appearance.

Why must some 1.6 players complain about some extra visual stimulation in the csp maps. this is the Source Engine afterall. The Dev's got it right make it run/play like 1.6, and make it look like Source minus the physics props that hinder movement.
Besides those windows could act as visuals for future wall bangs

Hello, sorry if this is asked before..
..are you planning on adding some of the colours of 1.6? seems now to have 1 color for all buildings while in 1.6 have multi colors very marked, like red and yellow and pink. All else is looking really good to me.

Its purely opinion saying that they would be better without windows. so why even spend time caring?

The background in csp_inferno looks really our of place, sort of like the gameworld aka playable are have being really nicely done in 3d and the background done if really poor 2d, if you get my drift. Sort of mixing crappy visuals like seen in Fifa games where the crowd looks really crappy and awful and the actual visual quality of the players is far superior.
The crappy background in csp_inferno doesnt mix well imho.
