The leaked version is exceptionally good for what it is, an out dated, leaked beta.

I havn't seen any Dedicated servers that don't crash, so we're playing it on "create" servers. Now if you've ever done that in CS:S you will know how crap it makes the game feel. However even with that problem, the game still feels pretty good.
Alot of bugs and issues have been stated in the leaked release, but alot of them have been fixed I'm fairly sure.
So yeh, in general AWESOME!!!

THERE ARE SO MANY SERVERS IN RUSSIA IT'S RIDICULOUS. I open the server list and I see 150 dedicated servers... it's ridic. Most are Russian, Ukranian, Latvian, some are European, overall the game is spreading like fire and I love it.

yeh got to agree with you there, with the leaked beta the biggest problems were the recoil, crosshair, and the players view height (or the actual size of the models, im not actually quite sure) - and i know they've said that their own custom models wont be introduced until later, but hopefully that doesnt mean they cant scale the size of the current default CSS ones they're using.

And I don't even think this thread's statement was approved by a developer, so it isn't guaranteed. Though it also wasn't disproved. Judging by official progress of the mod, it's rational to estimate 1.04 to be released in 2009.

i don't really see why it's not released like... now. i mean it's in a very playable state as is.. the only thing that needs to be fixed are the viewpoints which shouldn't(taken very lightly since i don't know anything about programming) take long, and models( at the moment) aren't really a big deal.

- a teenager is someone from 13 to 19;
- CSS is not that old;

Agreed... Source is by far easier than 1.6...
The only problem I had in 1.6 was aiming and the recoil, I just never got the hang of it, it's just how too smooth the turning was... Not sure if there is any commands to make it less smoothed(or more Source like), but recoil is just something you'll learn over time.

Everyone had access. Stupid mistake by the csp devs not to limit uploading access. It's standard for people to upload content to any moddb page, I think. Look at hl2 for example.

You prick, I did not mention any member of your family and the file WAS actually there, I downloaded it and I installed it without any problem. What I wanted the most were both de_dust2, de_nuke and de_train maps for playing in normal CS:S, which by the way is still a great game. I wanted to get those maps because I just hate default CS:S de_dust/de_dust2 props and wrecked cars, and I also like a lot the old CS 1.6 layout of the map. The other two maps have a great detail in CSS, hence they are more suitable for sightseeing rather than playing hard; the CSP version makes them playable again :)

I also think that the makers of the mod have become too obsessed with bringing back all CS 1.6's features. For instance, I HATE that stupid duck-like moment of your body when you walk in CS, and those purists have put it inside the beta. There are countless examples, from weapon's origins to sparks on walls when shooting them.

Frankly, just removing all props from the new maps and designing them in a simpler way would be more than enough (and also adding HQ world views to the different weapons, the default ones suck), while preserving the CS:S gameplay. No matter the effort you put on it, CS 1.6' soul can not be ported to any other game. That is the reason way it is still played more than ten years after its first beta release in 1999. Playing CS 1.6 aim an fy maps -undoubtedly the funniest part of the game, despite what "pro" gamers may say- is so a unique experience that I still remember the first time back in 2003 when I entered fy_poolday -my first and favourite map- in a cybercafé near my house and knew at once that CS 1.6, together with Battlefield 1942, would be best FPS PC shooter ever.

Why doesn't the dev team just add 6 months to their expected release date. That way when the fail at their internal release date, they still have a six month cushin(SP) to not enrage the community. Well, maybe a year would bebetter.

Yeah I can agree with that...

I know I previously stated that would be OK with a 2010 release date or whatever, but it is sadistic to tease us like that and then tell us that: "The game will be released at an unspecified time in 2010."

Of course if it's more like a specific release date in the near future though they can get away with that.
