1.6 players should definitely try this out now. I haven't played CSP since beta 1.04 (which was awful) and now with 1.08, I think this game is superior to 1.6 and Source :O
It might have bugs but I haven't come across any. I played with a friend in a private server, everything is practically perfect aside from the nades feeling "heavy". Good work CSP team.
Time to market this puppy and bring back counter-strike

I would like to add one thing, the ladder should be fixed in my oppinion, cause current type of ladder doesn't allow you to climb from the side, you have to jump directly on it to climb it,so it affects our movement, which is in my oppinion one of the main strenghts of 1.6.

with the current mapping abilities our hands are tied :(
IDK if someone has actually access to that part in code?!

n69ky, redstar has to use the same texture in the ladder and in the sides.
Or, he can copy the texture he is using in the side of the ladders and use the actual ladder vtf to make the texture to act like a ladder texture. Much like what RedStar done to use concrete sounds in csp_dust2.
I said this second one cuz it would look awfull the side of the ladder with transparent parts.
PS - Are the ladders brushes or models atm?

@n3krO: you're wrong. Redstar has already tried every way possible and there's nothing that can be done about it mapping wise.
It might be possible to do through code but it's complicated and part of it is engine bound.

Ofc i'm wrong... RedStar is using a model instead of using a world brush....
If he uses a world brush and doing the method i've said above he could chose whenever we can or not climb on the sides of the ladders. While you can't can't use a model and make us able to climb in the sides i suggest you do use these walkarround.
Visual will be worst then atm but ppl will stop saying they can't climb in the sides of the ladders.

create a simple box map and show us
So i created it, made it just like in cs1.6 and there's just one problem. Sometimes when i go to the ladder i can't climb it. It might be becuz in the side of the ladder there is the normal train walls and the game thinks that i'm crashing into those walls instead of the ladder. Even while climbing if i slide a bit to the side it instantly stops climbing and starts to fall.
But i got an idea to fix that. Tomorrow i tell you anything.

Listen up n3kro, I'm gonna save you some precious time and tell you that I've tried EVERYTHING humanly possible to find a workaround for the ladders. It is currently NOT possible mapping wise without some code related changes.
Ofc i'm wrong... RedStar is using a model instead of using a world brush...
And may you please stop with the false assumptions? I am using brush entities for mostly everything, the models you see in game are not what you, as a player, are interacting with because I've disabled their vphysics collisions.

climb from the side ? not possible in 1.6 or what , i dont understand

Hmm i see... Just one thing, the thing that we climb up is what when i decompiled the map is shown as nodraw?
In cs1.6 it's not 1 pixel out of the train but it's "part" of the train.
The problem is that if you put it as part of the train sometimes you don't climb but i don't know why this happens :O

Well first thing you need to know is that ladders in 1.6 and source don't work the same way. Also, decompiling maps will generate errors: the nodraw brush you're seeing is actually a trigger brush tied to the func_ladder entity. And the reason why you're falling down or sometimes can't even climb up at all when you have your brush side by side with a world brush is that it completely fucks up traces. Without going into details, it no longer detects properly when you're on the ladder or not, roughly speaking.

Maybe I should create a new thread about this issue but since you're discussing ladders; I have some feedback.
I should test it more because I'm not sure how it works yet, but sometimes the sound when climbing a ladder is not heard.
I've only noticed this on the train-ladders on de_train. It could be that the ladders are "too short" for the sound, so that the player climb too fast so that the sound keep up with it.
Anyone else noticed this? I can test more later.
