View Full Version : Radio System
Not sure if there is a topic already, Remember I don't give a **** what you think, I am here to help, Have something comical to say? Keep it to your self.
In 8 years I have only used about the max of 4 commands out of the 20. These being
Go Go Go, Roger that, Team Fall Back, Negative(Which is just too far away(8) on the key strokes to be effective). I believe a new radio system with better commands and a few of the originals would help. If we really want to go into depth, Maybe the Radio Commands could vary for each map, EX. x1 = Rushing Inside! x2 = Bomb down! x3= Bomb up! x4= Cross Fire!
I know most people need to press iether a button on their keyboard or on thier mouse to use Ventrilo, which usually can get you killed. More usefull commands would help this game and help eliminate the useless others.
More Examples(some originals)Some might be 'Noob' but it's just a general example, maybe a few bright minds could elaberate.
(CT SIDE)
Stack!
Nade!
Go Go Go!
Hold this pos.
Team Fall Back.
Roger that.
Need Backup!
Rushing A!
Rushing B!
Execute!(Also known as Go Go Go)
Gun Down!
Bomb down!
Bomb up!
Bomb Planting!
A!
B!
CT Spawn!
T Spawn!
Enemy Spotted!
Enemy Down(not incl. It's just too apparent)
Negative(relocate)
Relocate!
Default!
I forgot some really good ones, I'm in class right now, lots on my mind. Doesn anyone els have any other suggestions for some other commands?

It sure could be improved a lot. I only use affirmative and go go go
I use Roger that, enemy spotted and negative
EX. CT SIDE DUST2...COMMANDS STROKES COULD BE DIFF
CT MID AWPER
Z1 FAST CAT
Z2 AK CAT OR ONE CAT
Z3 LOWER B OR 1 LOWER B
X1 1 LONG OR LONG
X9012901238939182389 COUPLE MID

This has already been suggested but it seems everyone forgot about it.
I think it's a great idea. How about keeping the old ones and adding two new menus, like he said, one that would vary if you are T or CT the other that would vary according to the map.
Edit:
EX. CT SIDE DUST2...COMMANDS STROKES COULD BE DIFF
CT MID AWPER
Z1 FAST CAT
Z2 AK CAT OR ONE CAT
Z3 LOWER B OR 1 LOWER B
X1 1 LONG OR LONG
X9012901238939182389 COUPLE MID
I think that's a bit too much, you don't need all that stuff.

INCOMING!
NEED HELP!
BLIND!
RELOADING!
things i have to say troug voice, wich takes much longer then pressing a button and a sound plays instant on the others pc.
voice programms have to collect the sound, wich takes 20-150ms, then the latency to the voice server, from the server to
all others and then there is the soundcard buffer again 20-150ms... so i press a button and its played instantly!
GO GO GO!
WE GONNA WIN THIS!
MOVE MOVE MOVE!
YEEEEHAAAAAAAWW!!!!!
some cheerings you could need to motivate your team.
specially when you are loosing, this is so important.
because of that i spawn go go go at roundstarts :P
(some cool stuff like in starcraft and wc3 if you often select an unit :P)
it would also be important to see it on the RADAR who sent it and show the same SPEAKING symbol like when using voicecom!
AH! voicecom! make it able to speak with dead players and we dont need voiceprograms any more!

I don't see the problem in suggesting an idea from another game. You need to be open to suggestions, especially ones that would make the game better, in this case though, the radio system is useless.

Yes, but all people have DONE in this forum is make suggestions that are basically "Put this in the game, it's from l4d, and it's awesome" or "This is in CoD4, it's cool and so you should put it in this game." This is CSPromod...if they want that shit they can go play those games.

Go Go Go, Roger that/Affirmative, Negative, Need backup, Enemy spotted is all I use. Please leave the key commands the same like
X1 for gogo and C1 for roger that, C2 enemy spotted, C3 backup, C8 negative (out of my head not 100% sure)

you could at least add 'Bomb A' 'Bomb B'.
Hmmm, Most of you would be surprised how many professionals use radio commands and how effective they are. I've been at it for 8 years, they are awesome especially when in a 2-1 situation (of course you being the 2 remaining).
"BAD" good idea
"Lordearon" Good Idea

I'll tell you the ones I dont use when I'm playing serious:
Stick together
Get in position
Storm the front
Report in
Taking fire need assistance
Reporting in
Shes gonna blow
Enemy down
I think this a good idea and there are a few good ones devs could add in. We can't get carried away with it though and ask them to add in a bunch of ones that could be done without (mic is perfectly effective most of the time).
There are definitely a few good ones we could think up..

i think both are usefull!
a mic with voieactivation and talking with the dead players!
and some good radio commands (they get programmed in the brain and i dont need to activate the part for language and words and so on in my brain, so radio commands get activated much faster and they are transmited much faster over the internet. a send_radio('id'); is much faster transmitted then the whole blabla, so it starts playing faster at the others pc. and there are also other posibilities we could program, if we use radio commands like showing the person on the minimap who sent it. if you send i INCOMMING or BLIND or HELP and the others can see where you exactly are on the map, they cold throw flashes to blind the enemy but not you and know exactly where the oponent is coming from and so on. all things not so easy possible with 3rd party voice programs. that speaks LOUD for radio commands, with a rich feature set around em (blinking on the minimap and so on))
you dont need the menu to send radio commands, you can bind em directly to a key!

Bryn to be honest i think its a great idea. As the majority have said, people only use between 1 - 4 of the commands. The rest are for the noobs who like to spam them over and over again in public.
For the benefit of the people who don't have mics or maybe they have tonsillitis and cant speak... lol.. you never know. General Commands like " They're Rushing A/B" or "They're coming this way" or a command that lets you tell your Teammate where abouts you are
E,g, a Radio message that sais "Where abouts are you?" and then a radio message which sais " I'm at short A" The Short A will be replaced with the postion of that player on the map.

I think that is because the other 16 of them are useless, I think more people would use them if there were more useful ones to use. And yes, the radio commands hit the server faster than any voice programs. If your ping is 30ms in vent, that's a large number of time in a game that is full of split second reactions. I think if the information is relayed quicker, it will lead to more exciting matches, as well as spectators, instead of spectators scratching their head when watching online matches.

First post!
I think the radio commands should be kept the same, and that Ventrilo or team voice should be used for more complex commands. But really, any way would work, because we'll all get used to anything thats implemented and everything will most likely work very well. I'm excited for however cs pro mod turns out.
Flank or Flanker would be a good one for both T and CT

One thing for sure, a lot of these commands are REALLY unnecessary...
EX: "Get of there it's gonna blow!"

Thats my fav...

well, you can create your wavs and bind them in ventrilo.

alba mentioned he wanted to revise the radio system a bit... which is cool
just hope they consider stuff like equipment listing (show your primary weapon with bullets and a list of which nades you have).
for instance in the old 'reporting in' radio message ;)
Player A (B halls): Report in team! I've got 74hp, 1 sm and awm
Player B (Middle): Reporting in with 56 hp, 2 fl, 1 he m4a1 (24/30)
of course the actual call will be over ventrilo, but this wld be awesome to get a quick view at your options mid round!
Player A: Alright, fake cat with 1 flash, I'll smoke B halls and see if I can snipe box through it, you join me in halls and flash B site for us and I cover you while you clear the site...
Lordearon

the example was a bit silly as in a 2 player situation they can communicate it easy over vent, but imagine all 5 of you are still alive and you've played pick-off tactics and haven't quite managed to get where you want... as a tactic leader you want an instant listing of your m8s equipment which would be possible with asking them to 'report in'
btw, some samples from another thread about positional radio commands

Yup, would be a great idea.
Don't add any extra menu's but just change the texts of some and remove useless voices which are said earlier.
We need atleast the following imo:
A or Bomb A
B or Bomb B
I don't have a defuser kit
I have a defuser kit
