I may have been alittle Harsh before with the 1.03 release being complete Crap and I can see now that it definitely was rushed which quite possibly have killed the Hype behind this mod which I think is a Good thing looking at it now. Now You guys just have a small core fanbase to please and aren't trying to rush you to give results and it seems to be paying off.

I think all in all CSProMod will play the way Source should have played. Keep up the good work fellas and hopefully it doesn't take you guys 2 more years to put out the 1.04 beta ;P

beta 1.04 will be out in 2009!

what it contains is the dev's choice (depends on how much features work bug free)

Ha Ha, it is more csp-like to postpone the release again. Just like earlier this year.

we began closed testing on Beta 1.04, and we anticipate a release by mid-February.

That's february 2009 ofc.

I would not expect too much. Probably they won't release it before 2010. If Alex says "soon" it can mean anything...

The good thing is that they recode everything! I hope they're smart and they easily separated the game code from the engine code, It keeps the game alive.

Than in the future it will be relatively easy to move from the source engine to a more advanced engine.
Like cry engine 2 :P, old PC`s will play with source engine an new PC`s with the new,
Players playing with differnet engine on the same server will create unfair advantages but it is possible (They share the same netcode - protocol), just probably won't happen.

they have said that since the code is 100% custom they can easy change the engine but it probebly wont happen that they switch to like unrealengine3 or cryengine2/3 but to the new builds of source like the OB version or what ever l4d2 is runing on:D

L4D2 is running on the new updated source engine. didn't any of the csp guys talk about switching to this new updated source engine if it becomes available?

It's the same, only updated and improved. Which kinda is the point of SourceĀ®.

OrangeBox was the last engine update, which is now topped by Left4dead 2, although I have no clue how they're naming that one :)

but we stay at vanilla source (cs:s) right?

does cs:s have multi core support?

haGisson
11-08-2009, 06:11 AM
only the OB engine supports multicore afaik

once they are done it should be no problem to port the mod to the OB engine

derWalter

but there is a problem, ofc.

we all need to buy the new engine!

possibility

a)we could use both engines. ppl who buyed the new engine could use it, but don have to. ppl with only cs:s, can play promod without gameplay limitations on the same servers like the others.

b)we stay with one of these engines. (im for the cs:s engine!)

ppl who play csp because the good looking engine? - no way :P

in fact, for me its not important. i play on a singlecore pc :P ( but i also got my quadcore 4870 26"2ms rig )

No, you'll just need to download "Source SDK Base - Orange Box" from your steam tools, and it's free.

oh.

i can play a mod without buying the game? sounds strange to me, but cool!
(because we are living in a world getting ruined by capitalism, so its strange that something from a company is free)

then lets do it :)

Big release party for this mod so we can all enjoy it. Vent party + IRC Chatting, and fun pugs! And much more!

As long as you own ANY source game (CSS, Hl2, hl2 ep1, doesn't matter which engine it was built under), you'll be able to play just fine. Valve releases the updates to the base SDK content after each new engine they develop, so even people who don't own tf2/portal/ep2, for example, can still play mods built on the OB engine (as long as that mod doesn't use content from such games).
