Can you demo smooth HLTV demos in 1.6? This is one of the biggest problems in the world of Source movie editing =[

What exactly do you mean by smooth?

Most of the time the demos are fine. POV of course are better quality but HLTV's normally are solid.

Demo smoothing in Source is a technique where you can set camera locations on a demo and have the camera run from one key camera to another. Its used almost all the time in Source movies because of how good it looks, but the major drawback (other than its buggy) is that you cant see your own player model. I was wondering if you could see your own player model in 1.6, and if so. Could they mod that a bit so movie editing became a lot less hassle?

I'm pretty sure you can from what I've seen in some good 1.6 movies.

But I also believe that CSP will be using Source recorder/demo player? Confirm/deny
but if it's source recorder, you shouldnt have a problem.

as long as they don't code their own solution there will be the source demoplayer

I don't think you are able to do that in 1.6. Never heard of that option.

the camera flights you see in good 1.6 movies are done manually from hltv demos

DemoEdit is a native Half-Life 1 tool that allows several special effects that can be applied to recorded demos. Probably the most interesting one among those is the CAMPATH event that allows waypointed camera movement.

in source you can see your own model as long as you smooth from your match/scrim POV. a little different process though.

dem_forcehtlv 1 is horrible buggy. And by demo smooth his means like this:

The only thing is, it can not be done via SourceTV, or HLTV which ever you prefer to call it, it can only be done through POV demo's.

I didn't know this, as far as I know it's impossible to see your own model when you smooth from a POV. How does that work :) ?

Chris is right, you cant see it in source with POV, wondering if they'll mod it up a bit in CSP to make it easier for us movie makers? =[
