View Full Version : just a quick question
i was just inquiring about the model GIGN, will it have the smallest head in the game just like 1.6? & also the l33t krew model being the skinnest model in the game?

there's no GIGN model at the moment, only the SAS and L33T
Seriously I've become curious about this, does the model choice REALLY affect hitboxes? I didn't know this and to be quite honest it doesn't make any sense either, because of the cl_minmodels command. You could just choose something like the white fella to be the terrorist model and the SAS or some other "big" model for all ct's and become basically "immune" to this, right? I'd like some proof about this to really believe it.
Yeh it does, GIGN has the smallest head in the game so its harder to hit him in the head & l33t krew is the skinnest so its harder to hit him, part from that rest of the model's are large and easy to be hit

That doesn't mean it changes the size of the hitboxes though :B

chje is right.
Model choice DOESNT affects the hitboxes. It can only afect the visibility/response time.
If u dont belive me, look at "Blockhead" hi-fps models, basicly they should be just textured hitboxes.

the hitboxes are exactly the same. the models does not affect the hit box.

ofc it does NOT affect the hitboxes, BUT your aim!
so it affects gameplay and how easy it is to hit the box.
also keep the bullet cone in mind!

Well if the hitbox is scaled with the other models, basically you could miss your shot on the gign model and still hit. If the hitbox is scaled with the gign model, you could hit the other models and miss. Pretty hard to explain so I drew a picture: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/4884/hitbox.gif
The green areas are done by hand very quickly so obviously it's not good but you get the idea.
Thus, I don't see why exactly it'd be any harder to hit your target regardless of the model choice. :p
Anyhow back to the topic, while the only models implemented are SAS and L33T, in all fairness they should be equally sized. So, the answer is no for now.

LoL
Do u have time to aim exactly a spot on his head when an enemy peeks? Random person aims approx to the middle of head...

that's cause it stretches the picture on your screen. it's like having a 128x128 and then stretching it to 512x512 in paint, will look uglier, but it'll be bigger.
me myself plays with 1680x1050 on my 22" cause i feel it's easier to have a full view of the game so i won't miss important details that i may miss if i play on the smallest setting
still though, same hitbox for everything, a smaller head just means you can hit next to it and still get an headshot
