Hey everyone, if you've followed the update site the past few hours (days) you most likely know that we've been working on getting all the changes, updates, fixes from last year's beta to the most recent build we have.

This wasn't an easy task obviously but thankfully I had help from most of the beta testing team (tiger, esk, n69ky, nitrous, yuriMAD) to get it all done in time for 1.05's release schedule.

Anyways, no need to make you guys wait more, here's what changed in details (http://changelog.cspromod.com/).

I think we have pretty much all of it in there but like I already stated, we'll keep updating it within the next few days in case more work gets done, you know the drill.

Now this is going to be something special.. That change log is a breath of fresh air for those whom have been waiting for a proper CSP release. Cannot wait to get a server running for this.

They probably meant the way you could abuse smokes in css where you basically could stand in the smoke and have almost clear vision while the other team cant see a crap.

yeah css had 2 areas where you coud look threw the smoke quit good.. butt thats all fixed now.

but in 1.6 you can also look quit good threw the smoke.

and it was even a smoke from the apponent xD

i hope they will reconsider this and maybe can make it something smoother or harder?

and their talking about hiding in the smoke, what has been around for ever.

I don't think they didn't see him because he was hiding in the smoke. They probably just didn't look.

Great to see new maps being added (specifically csp_aztec, really not fond about csp_lite), but very disappointed that theres no tuscan yet seeing as its been in the 'standard' map rotation along with the main 4 maps for years. (would also like to see a strike/mirage variant in there too)

Other than that, everything else looks absolutely awesome

I believe there are copyright issues with a direct remake of Tuscan, which is probably why it hasn't yet been recreated unit-for-unit by an official CSP mapper. However, a couple of remakes have been knocking around the Level Design forum:

I was under the impression that the CSP map designer is also the guy who originally did de_tuscan so didnt think there'd be a problem :S

Either way, its great we're getting new maps, but we shouldnt be getting rid of old maps. Tuscan needs to be included in some shape or form to the default CSP so that everyone has it, or else it'll be like in 1.6 where it took ages to take off beacuse it was a custom non-default map that not everyone had

ahh ur right my bad, i got Brute/Cashed mixed up. Hopefully brute is able to port his CSS version to CSP or something as it really is needed in the map rotation (or someone else steps up like u pointed out others working on a remake)

tuscan's been in every tournaments map rotation for 1.6 for atleast ~2-3 years (a bit longer than that but it wasnt really completely 'accepted' before then). afaik its also been a heavily used CSS map but im less experienced on that matter so not entirely sure

the problem with originally getting the map accepted in 1.6 was that it was a custom map that not everyone had. This of course meant it wasnt played in public, it wasnt hosted on anyones servers and thus no1 really played it - which is the problem with CSP if its not included into its official map rotation (ie. included with the actual game so that EVERYONE has it)

Ye, it's basically the same with some minor changes and a different environment... I don't know if these changes are improvements, but I like mill better:D probably because it's from my CS time, I guess

I'd say a new map pool would be nice, esl source have just added season and contra to the map pool (dust2 inferno nuke train and tuscan) and it's a + for the community without doubt. But my point is, that because CSP is a "new" game, you have the chance to make a new map pool from scratch. CSP will soon be seeing maps that has never been seen before and some of them might be really good. Rather kick some of the old maps instead of adding up to a xx map pool, tuscan is a good map, but is it really really needed?

True, first things first, but it would be nice to get all good custom maps included by default and perhaps overhaul some of them a bit. Russka for instance is a very nice map, but it feels "unfinished" whereas seasons feels as if it could've been an actual map from the game, it's slick and finished.

Getting kinda tired of the same maps over and over. The only default maps that haven't bored me yet are css's nuke and 1.6's nuke/inferno.

Lol he nailed it. I'd be willing to bet 10 bucks on those exact events happening.
The CSP team should release it at a random time of the day and don't announce anything lol. People will get on sometime on the 31st and see that it's there.

I'd refresh the site over and over... for hours and hours...
and when its out i will download and think of the people wwho'll miss the first 2 or 3 hours of 1.05 because theese will be EPIC !!
nobody knows whats going on, everybody is astonished by the great improvements and people
will run around and be happy like kids because such a beautifull game slowly shapes to be AWESOME

It's a decent enough map. Plus there are no IP/Copyright issues with the map. Maps like Tuscan, Mill, and Fire are all tied down to other IP holders. Plus tweaks and layout changes can always be made :)

It's just that Ted made it for 1.6 and ported it to Source so it was pretty obvious that he would put it in CSP as well.

there are no IP/Copyright issues with the map. Maps like Tuscan, Mill, and Fire are all tied down to other IP holders.this

In my opinion it isn't. Well, I have to admit I've never liked it, because I felt it's not as competitive as d2, inferno, train and nuke.

Definitely can see this point. But at the end of the day, this is a game that is not only for the casual player, but also the "Pro" communities as well, making Tuscan an absolute must for competitive play and to keep the 1.6 competitive atmosphere alive as well. I particularly was never a true fan of the map, but I could not despise it because it was fair in its play and I love watching competitive CS matches.

It's not fixed yet, unfortunately. They have to find a better way of doing it.

No you just need to download "Source SDK Base 2007" in the "Tools" tab in your Steam client. You have it with any Source game.

Yes but the Installer might still have at least 200mb. Quite a lot considering 1.04 only had 55mb or so, the difference is huge after all.
Argghhh anyway, 300mb these days are nothing.

Yeah this is twice as much as 1.04, but judging by the compression ratio the size should be somewhere around 100MB maybe a little bit more. So for me this would take around a minute @ full speed (1.1MB/s), but the servers are caped @ 360 KB/s so it'll take more time. My estimation (for me) is 4-5 minutes.

Yeah would be nice with my new Benq xl2410T, did buy that one with Cspromod much in mind too, love the resolution and 120 hz against my old crt with max 1024x768 ^^ But the playing i have done with this screen in csp 1.04 i have never thought about the crosshairs thickness, but yeah, better more than nothing ;)
