Lets say if I wanted to recreate a 1.6 map for csp, could I just use hammer editor to make a map for css and would this map then work with csp? Or do I need to have cspromod myself in order to make maps for it? Sorry if this has already been asked before but I used the search function :).

use sdk hammer for css/csp maps and vhe 3.5 for watching decompiled 1.6 maps ;) and then rebuild unit for unit the new map/´s.

I tried to make a map a couple of times using Hammer, I always run into issues, either the map just won't compile, or it tells me theres no .bsp file which there is and I've checked 9 million and 1 times that all settings and directories are correct. I just fail at life. Sigh balls.

When I decompile an 1.6 map using bsp2map and I open the map file in VHE 3.5 I don't get any textures. And I can't install mapfool because vista doesn't support the old .net 1.1 or something :S. Is there a different solution to do this?
EDIT: I managed to start the .net 1.1 installer (mapfool doesn't like .net 3.5) so maybe it will work now. I'd like to hear whether other people also use map fool and bsp2map to recreate 1.6 maps or is there a better way?
EDIT: I didn't mean source I meant hamer editor 3.5 :)

after decompiling 1.6 map with bsp2map you have to open this map in Valve Hammer Editor 3.5 (VHE 3.5). ;) in Source SDK Hammer Editor you can open only source engine based maps ;)

I know this, but then the textures are still missing and the map looks really confusing without textures :? .\
EDIT: Nevermind, you don't have to use mapfool at all you can just load the entire wad of the map into VHE. I don't know why they say otherwise at the valve developer community but at least it works now :D

Nope, if you decompiled a cs 1.6 map it will turn into a .map file just resave to a rmf file and you can open it in source editor.
And you make cs 1.6 maps in source hammer np.
And about the textures missing (only colors) what i do ( really stupid tho :P probably another way ) i select the whole map and use the clipping tool and clip under the map and the textures will appear and the brushes will turn normal so u can replace the textures ;)

But I'm gonna make the source remake from scratch because I heard decompiled files are messy or something :P .

yep they are but sometimes you've got a better compiled map then another time.

start to recreate an aim_map for csp to start with, thats the best way i think =) after that you can start with recreating a more or less official cs/css map. ^^ that was my way ;)

But I'm actually making this map to practice, and maybe I can continue improving it and then it could turn out to become something good. I was just done making half a bombsite when my hammer editor crashed  .

a tipp from my side: save often, watch a lot of tutorials, practice enough. ;)
and its not bad when you give your maps sometimes other names like csp_..._map_b001, 002, 003........

check the compile log for errors like leaks, missplaced stuff (like no T spawns thats functional etc.) etc. etc.
