Hey smilesger,
You need to download the source sdk (but apparently you already did that), then choose "source engine 2006" and "Counter-Strike: Source"
A good place to learn the basics and how to map properly (assuming you're a beginner!) http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Level_Design
I'm moving this to the level design section

Is recommend that you start to mapping for Half Life 1 engine, so you will learn the basics of maping, because the source engine is more complex, btw you can start with the source , but simple comment
Good luck with mapping ;)
See Ya
PD: I've started to make the csp_prodigy

@GrOXoS
I'm already making csp_prodigy: http://cspromod.com/community/threads/100-CSP_prodigy
And no, there's no need to begin with goldsource mapping

Hello.
I'm not gonna create a new thread for this, but I need a bit of help. Perhaps it's very easy to fix and I just missed it, but it's giving me troubles. :p
And I don't care if it makes me look like a complete retard. :)
When you create a wall for example, and you apply a texture to it...
The moment you rotate your wall in Top View to any angle, and you look at it from above in 3D view, the texture on top of the wall doesn't rotate with it. It stays aligned on the X axis perfectly.
Of course, rotation could do the trick kinda, if you layer a 1 or 2 unit brush on top if it, and apply rotation to it. But a 1 unit brush isn't that ideal in the first place.
Is there a proper way to fix this?
You have to be able to walk on it, so that's why I ask, it would look retarded.
And yes, I'm new to Hammer.
Thank you.
