My big problem with CSP is that it seems to be way more cs 1.6 than source i myself prefer alot of sources map maknig but from wat iv seen of levels its all 1.6 leveling and no source, if i really wanted to paly 1.6 levels on source id just download the ported 1.6 maps from fpsbana and play them on source.

Yeah, csp maps look almost identical to 1.6. How about implementing more dynamic lighting, more props (don't have to be physprops, just props) etc.

The csp maps havn't gone to shit lol, they look very nice as they are right now imo. And plus the whole point is to keep the 1.6 layout and be smart about how you add detail, not add loads of "useless" crap in critical gameplay areas such as cars, trash, etc..
take css dust2 for example.

cars are a visual upgrade, just like any other props, like those sandbags on season or the yellow generator.
you can't just turn your back against certain props if they fundamentally are of the same type.

i don't get wat was so bad about css dust2 people bitch and moan about it other than a couple milk cartons on the ground that pretty things up it didn't effect anything sure we could play with maps that are all Grey with no details and only long hallways but we don't because that would be boring.

CSP won`t be about a cool praphics and details. Laconic boxes > lame roundy Sandbags, straggly rusted cars, shrubs and trees, what you can`t even use for hiding or anything, just gets in way. Like, when you play fps game, you pay attention to minor details. There is no need for unneccesary things what interferes with a gameplay or don`t have any special meaning.

I'm a source player, I fucking hate every prop that exists on any map.

Same here, it's one of the reasons I want to quit source... Prop's get in the way, the only time they're fun is when you jump on top of one, jump, and shoot at the barrel/prop in mid air, then you land in it.
If the prop is big enough to hide a crouched body, then it's just a quick way to hide... lol, it's such a silly source bug. ^_^

I am all for tasteful redecoration, but most of the props in Source just get in the way (especially phys props of course) and don't look very good to begin with. If crouching behind a bombed-out car actually gave you cover, it might make sense to use them.
Personally I think the official CSP maps look awesome, with plenty of eye-candy and without any fps-eating garbage (eg. milk crates). Really, with all the action that goes on in a CS match, do we need tin cans flying around as well? Its not pretty or cinematic.. its just distracting.
As far as the actual maps are concerned, I think the official mission statement is to have them exactly as 1.6, with a facelift. I did read about a suggestion for the lower halls on CS:S nuke to be implemented in CSP nuke, which sounded pretty cool, because it added interesting gameplay elements, but I don't know what the official word is on that..

I think the CPS maps look amazing. I agree with polar Panda... Like on Inferno, when you spawn as CT, i usually spend the first 10 seconds shooting the swinging light before going off to my site. People don't need those distractions!
I wont even mention the bells at T spawn...
I make maps myself for 1.6 and i know the little things like that make alot of difference to the player.

Speaking from a mapping perspective. Source maps have always been way to cluttered, its like valve over used their abilities with mapping and just started dropping props for the hell of it to boast about their engine. I believe why everyone is raving about 1.6 maps is because they are a lot less cluttered, people still want the visual situation but just want the maps to be clean and crisp. It ultimately comes down to how go the mapper is at what he/she is doing. If they are good they will be able to balance added props but still keep it clean.

i played both cs:s and 1.6 for a long time in competive way..
and i think that cs:s maps sucked in all aspects, ofcourse 1.6 maps needed and need new looks because after 5 years of playing them it kinda sucks looking at new games like MW and MW2 with nicer looks..
but from what i read in CSP forums and About i believe that the main thing they are trying to do is make all maps look nicer and implamenting all 1.6 gameplay with a few tweaks to bring counter strike main essence to a new level of online gameplay..

HUH?
Who the hell DOES that?
And this is CSP, there is no way you can be flashed at long and not be able to take some form of cover.

Looks way, way to much like source, if this game is going to want to make it big, like cs 1.6 did. they will need to do something, and do it fast.
and also, i would love to see maps like AZTEC, CPL_STRIKE, AND CPL_MILL

Fuck the looks. It's all about the feel of the game. Right now, CSPromod FEELS like a much better version of 1.6.
What makes the game look like source? That's easy to answer. The player models, weapon models, and the radio commands.
Until these 3 things are changed, it will LOOK like source, but nonetheless, this game does NOT feel like source.
