Yes. Although CSP is being made for competitive play, there will always be players who just want to play for fun.
You'll see deathmatch servers, aim map servers, regular play servers, etc.

Technically there can be deathmatch servers when 1.04 is released without mods. On sv_public 0 it has an ESEA style deathmatch system (technically warm up mode). Might want to bind a button for rebuy :).
sounds great. DMing should be fun.

Its just ESEA style DM mode but its fun
that doesn't matter at all, it will still be cool!

Then I got to think, when it all starts up with the new 1.04 BETA. Then how are people gonna set up clans, I mean you have to know each others skills, that is not gonna be done on DM servers. But if you set up a team talk serious play server, you gotta need some admin stuff to kick annoying pub people and specially annoying kids. Will mani admin work?

Most fairly decent players will use mirc to find a team or "recruit". There will be a csp ringer channel, you join the channel, ring for a team, if you're any good and they are looking for players they'll recruit you. Simple.
Competitive "skills" can't really be determined by deathmatching or pubbing. There's a lot more to this game than just shooting.
Anyways, I believe the CSP Team is working on some type of admin command list thing. (Which will be able to do most admin-type things without having to type everything in console.)
Pubs are the only thing that matters!
yahhhhhh!!! PUBS > ALL!
WHAT?!

Then go to css or 1.6, as said this mod is for competitive play.
But seems like I have to use mirc, but I've joined the competitive world, picked from pub server. But I'm talking about servers were both teams make tactics and are in basic just playing like it was a cw, thats the places I get asked if I'm teamless all the time. I've found many good teams that way, so that was pretty much what I was expecting.
I only knew mirc as a place my CL found matches.

LOL.
Some might say you'd need to master the pubs. I guess you could say those would be called pubs... masters?

I don't like competitive play, takes the fun out of the game for me, I like to have fun when I play CS. Will mods like Deathrun and WC3 be implemented in CSP?

I have a lot more fun when I play in scrims. Pubbing is just boring.

you're like my friend who sucks ass at the game and the only excuse he can come up with for being so bad is "i just like to have fun when i play"
seriously, what's fun with playing about some pubnoobs? it's very rare to find good competition in pubs unless you're getting all your friends in there. there's just nothing fun with it, playing scrims and pcw's and such doesn't have to mean it's competitive, it's just a 5v5 pub with vent and more tactical playing instead of camp and shoot what moves. if you want to bring yourself to competitive playing then sure do that, but if you don't just get some friends around and find someone to play with, cause i promise you. scrimming/pcw > pub more than cake > goatballs

I've been playing CS for about 5 years now, I know it's not as much as some people, but honestly after 5 years, don't you think I would be good at the game if I wanted to be? It's like anything, practice makes perfect, and since I don't really practice and fuck around, I'm not getting any better but probably having more fun than you ever do.
Games are fun, if I wanted competition, I'd go play a real sport.

LOL you just haven't found any good communities, seriously pub is fun if you find a good server and you get to know people. CS is not only about competition. You can easily find great friends that you play and talk with everyday or something like that.
The only Pubnoob here is you. Even thou I can say such words, I'm still here for competitive play.

seriously, you're describing finding a community with a mirc to search for scrims and stuff which is fun. but instead of scrims and mixing it's a pub full of bad people and once in a while an average guy.

after playing pubs for 1 year once i started 1.6, it kinda felt really boring doing the same thing 2 or 3 hours a day..
most competitive players only go to pubs to do a little aim warm up before practice or wars, and honestly 60% ( give it or take it) "good players" both in css and 1.6 HACK, its sad but truth, when i usually start pubing even if i get to see a those hackers that use aimbot without any problem at all and disguising it, i continue too play it kinda gives me a challenge to kill them :)

lol no I'm not talking about mirc, I'm talking about clicking 'find server' and then join a public server. A good admin team can create a great community, to me it's the admins that decides how their server community is like. But well it might depends on what culture you're from, I'm from Denmark and have made CS:S friends on danish and united kingdom servers. I like to play 40% competitively and 60% public, but thats my style.

In the end, its all down to personal preference. I don't scrim, mainly cos I suck and the only team offers I get are from germans. But I still enjoy playing cs, and, in the end, it makes fuck all difference to anyone else so quit moaning.

Yeah I'm with vapiant. I've been a regular in many different pubs back in the day. Some of the greatest cs moments of my life lmao. You make some good e-friends man. It's just great having that stable community where everyone knows each other. Sorta depressing thinking about how it's all gone now and how long ago it was =(
Just eventually I got too good for pubs and I would often get kicked/banned for "hacking". My style of play was walling ><

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!
Computer games are listed under entertainment, not sport. There's no physical strain on someone or physical boundary or pushing yourself physically to the next level. It's all about mental play, that is all. Sport is physical, gaming is mentality.

Actually your arm evolves to use the mouse better... I know I saw a text by some scientist, how counter-strike affects people. But another thing is that the way cs players evolves their mentality is very close to sports like football(Soccer) or Handball. Well basically cs evolves your reaction time, and every sport does that.

Hey dude don't make me cry... But the servers I played on, the admins are those people that gets banned for their skill, so nothing to fear.
A good advise if you want to find a great community: Find a server you have good connection to, with admins from your country and alltalk on. Then when you get used to it and the admins get to know you. Ask if you can become an admin, because then you will have big influence on how the community will be like, so you will make it so you will like it. Of course it can happen that the community is not really so good for your personality, but then you just have to find a new one.
PS: If your not so good at cs, then find a WC3/WCS server, they don't require that much skill.
So chess is no sport ? QQ
