something i couldnt wait to knock up:

like an average aim map with a few twists.

including:
4 different weapons depending on where you spawn.
multiple levels and a range of distances for a more dynamic training exercise.
buy zones on all the green areas.

Nice! Reminds me of the aim_forbidden maps on CS:S with a very different look.

Here you go:

http://i50.tinypic.com/28lalut.jpg

AWP at the top, FAMAS/Galil in far corners, MP5 on the bridge, AK/M4 everywhere else.
Had fun playing this map.

I'm done with mapping for a couple of days and then I'll come back and add a nice (hopefully simple) 3D skybox (and fix the fog/missing box). Meanwhile enjoy my other release, csp_aim_london_v1 (coming out tonight).

i'm workin on the skybox and boundry area now. want to make it look really nice.

I've got some fun ideas about what to do with players who wonder out of the area of play (such as sending them sliding to their death). >:D

No buyzones would be a lot more fun imo

Idk if you know this, and I'm not trying to hate(AT ALL) but from looking around on google.. your map has more of an aztec type feel, when babylon is actually more Egyptian looking with greenery around everything. Your map looks good, so you don't have to change anything. just felt like pointing that out though :)

Yeah no0ne... that has been going through my head quite a bit. How do I explain that this is ancient Baghdad? But along the Nile it is green and there's a lot of agriculture in Afghanistan. The climate was probably different back then too. I think I can get away with it.

About the buy zones... thing is that you only get 1 clip when you pick up a gun in CSP. There have been a lot of requests for buy zones in other maps. I'm not sure my self but we'll see how it plays on release.

Right now I'm making a large surrounding wall that you can walk along (at the moment) with great gates on either side where the riverbed goes through. I tried to make it as if the arena was on the side of a great mountain but mountains u make with the displacement tool look CRAP!

I think using the CSPromod.fgd will allow you to place weapons that work properly for aim maps.

Do you vote for or against buy zones?
Latest shot:

EDIT:
Just played the latest build against bots! It went great!

When you spawn at the bridge there is some really fast MP5 action which is pretty exhilarating, because if you don't run to the nearest gun and get ready then you're gonna get rushed quickly! But for the rushing team, the bridge is on the bottom level and so they have the disadvantage rushing up the many stairs (I know because the bots got me every time). Which means it's safer to sharp shoot from your own half!

In the mid levels, where you're given the AK and M4, it feels like an aim map but very different in that you're aiming up and down at both far and short ranges. This really helps loosen your aim. The spawn points for the FAMAS and Galil seem at just the right range too.

When you spawn at the top for the AWP, it's a great feeling to be above the action having a breather. Again because of the range of distances and levels it really makes those flick shots satisfying.

At the end of the round the walkways around walls are the place to be to pick off any stragglers. But don't try going up there while under fire because there is no cover.

UPDATE:
Now I'll just be finishing off the riverbed, plants, maybe adding a 3D skybox and generally finalizing the textures and lighting.

Hmm I think personally you should lay more gun's down and have a wide range of spawn's because I personally think aim map's are specifically for assault rifle's and not sniper rifle's (then the separate aim maps like awp india specifically for awping). Buy zone's just give that one person the opportunity to get the awp and ruin the aim map. IMO.

Well as you can see, AWPs are already part of the map.

In my opinion, seeing as this is CSP (Pro Mod), AWPs never ruin the map, only make it more challenging.

I enjoy taking on an AWP with an M4. I like getting the AWPer scared so he makes mistakes. I like taking advantage of the split seconds after an AWPer misses a vital shot. It's fun. It's part of the game. IMO...

With buy zones I'm more concerned about nade spamming.

Nonetheless, your vote is counted :)

I agree, more challenging which make's me want it more. Defeating the challenge is always a great thing. I do feel once the 1.6 movement is incorporated I wont have an issue with awps because the strafing in 1.6 compared to csp right now isn't best to fight off an awper with a rifle unless that awper truly sucks :).

I guess it depends on if the team stacks awp's then I get pissed (10x10 servers w/ 6-7 guys starting the game with awps because of starting money...), other then that I think awp's are fine.

I've decided the buy zones are not needed.
