View Full Version : I'm getting ready to switch to source

Because I'm sick and fucking tired of finding 1.6 servers overloaded with so many mods that you only register half of your shots.
From my experience in source, instead of only registering half of my shots, I get headshots by aiming at the wall next to them. Less frustrating I think.
Pub 1.6 is effectively dead in Australia these days. It's kinda sad. Online scrims are hard to find as well if I remember correctly, although I haven't played online in a while. LAN seems to be surviving though.

Pubs pretty much went to trash a while ago. You gotta just ring for teams via IRC. Even then, it's not as popular as before but far better than pubbing.
I just made the switch back to ESEA about a month ago, at least then there's hardly any waiting time. You can pretty much just hop in to a pug at any time. It's good if you can put up with the baiting.
Even better if you can get in a team.
I still have my 5 German publicservers
1 normal servers
1 AWP only
1 d2 only
1 inf only
1 custom maps

Pugging won't help me at all. Most scrim servers are run on a machine overloaded with them making it very difficult to get a server that reges decently. Not to mention I have to sit there praying that I don't get stuck with some team made up of retards. Finding a team is no good, either. I decided long ago that I'm not playing with e-friends anymore, I've been stabbed in the back enough.

I jsut remembered lol. I played a scrim not long ago where one of my teammates found out what the pause key was for the server. People kept pausing the game after that until many rounds later they finally disabled it.
I'll never scrim in a server if i know amx or any of that shit is on. A lot of the time i'll just find a new one even if they disable it, cuz chances are if they have amx, they're newbies.
But anyways, once you get used to a few things source isn't that bad a game. It was huge turn off years ago, but they've raelly come a long way (though there are still some things that go against competitive gaming in it.)

Eh, I played source for nearly a half a year soon after it came out. I never really thought of it as a bad game (though I may have said otherwise ::innocent face::). I just generally prefer 1.6. But hey, if source registers my bullets, I won't care. Though it seems I get more headshots aiming infront or behind the enemy than I do aiming at them
P.S. It's really hard to get used to the recoil taking forever to kick in. I keep trying to correct it before it needs correction =.=

There's actually a really simple answer for that. Even though Source players like Source they agree that Source has it's problems just like most of us believe that 1.6 has it's own share of problems. Only problem is most of the suggestions that are given are either not in the interest of competitive gaming or it's an idea that just doesn't need to be in CSP.

Counter-Strike 1.6 has gone downhill for me since I stopped playing actively about 6-8 months ago. You can still find scrims, but the pubs are now full of cheating Southern Americans that share Steam accounts with other people.
Hey what's wrong with southern americans :(. I'm from Brazil and I've never cheated in my whole life (although some people will always claim that you have if you're any good), and honestly I haven't seen much people cheat in scrims around here. Of course there's always the occasional dude that goes 32-3 with amazing reflexes right after you won the half 14-1, but it isn't a regular. I have only been blatantly cheated against around 9 or 10 times in 6 years of playing scrims, I don't think that's much compared to other places I've heard of :P.

I really hate it when people make videos saying someone is cheating but remove all sound and replace it with music. Yes, it was pretty obvious that a lot of those shots were bull shit, but some of them I'd require the real sounds to judge.

but if you read what HLTV said you se that it kinda obvius that the cheted he when the judges come behand him he demanded them to leave but i also think that some of that where bullshit but on the other hand its stupid to cheat on a WCG qualifire

I don't doubt that he cheated, but I don't find him telling people to stop watching him an indicator for cheating. I know get nervous and start playing worse when people are looking over my shoulder. I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world that that happens to.

yatta thats true but still they have refferes on events like that to look over your shoulder to see if you have wallhack or any other cheat

My computer is good enough to run CS:S at 100 FPS in normal pubs, and doesn't drop below ~50 in a 32 man iceworld server. This is with everything maxed out except AA, btw.
I like 1.6 better.
edit: Guess I should add that the resolution I play at is 1440x900, which is the max my 19" monitor can handle.

I don't have any type of stigma against Southern Americans, but its hard to find a server where I can understand what people are saying =P

1.6 sux, to many cheaters and to much mods like GG,WC3,DM,HNS etc...
I might be a little biased but... 1.6 is the best team-based multiplayer game ever made. Even if you can play CSS with 1000fps, the depth isn't there. But that's just my opinion, of course.
"to many cheaters"?
the most of them swiched to css ;X

1.6 sux, to many cheaters
you mean too many guys that have been playing the same game for 4+ years that are just good at playing. To the point where you think they are cheating. :D

Fail logic is fail. If cheaters cared about losing money they wouldn't be cheating in the first place. Not that I agree that all of the cheaters moved to source. But I definitely wouldn't say that a lot didn't.

Pretty much the same in South Africa, we still got around 10 scrims a day though :D
