View Full Version : Who knows a lot about computer mice?

I'm curious. If I were to go out and buy a brand new Logitech G5 mouse, would it come with all the updated firmware, or would I have to do it myself?

While I'm here. Is it true that Optical mice are better than Laser mice for low sensitivity gaming? Or is that just propaganda spread by Razer to sell their Death Adder? It just never made sense to me that a mouse that could read a surface faster would be inferior to a mouse that was slower. Especially since I have a Death Adder now, and it doesn't seem to work well with fast movements on my silver icemat.

It's seemingly funny, though. I didn't know it was supposed to be the best low sensitivity mouse when I bought it or I probably would have bitched more when I noticed its jumpyness with fast movements.

I should really stick to Logitech. I switch back and forward every time I buy a new mouse, and the Razers always seem to disappoint me.

It really depends on your gaming style. I prefer low sensitivity and a large somewhat heavy mouse and a cloth mousepad.

I've been using Logitech MX518 for 4 years and I can't imagine it really getting much better. To be honest, I even leave it on 400dpi

The mx518 was a really nice mouse but I sold it to a friend for 10€, years ago, then I bought Habu..

I play at low sensitivity with a DeathAdder and a QPAD CT Large 4mm, perfect mix I think. Except the "click" sound which sucks ...

I don't remember the name of the website, but they've done lot of tests with different mice and some optical mice was at the top concerning stability and accuraty with large and high speed movements.

The very good thing with the DA is that she stops to record movements when she's 2mm high so there is no parasite jump of the crosshair when you move from a side of the pad to the other.

I got a laser mouse too, Microsoft Habu, biggest shit ever my crosshair was moving alone and I couldn't put back my mouse without the crosshair to move 3cm higher ...

High dpi and laser captor is just bullshit marketing..

About your problem Yatta, maybe you should test another pad or update your mouse firmware (http://www.razersupport.com/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=11&pcid=0&nav=0) if you didn't. ;)

Edit: I found what I was searching, look there (http://www.esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1300293&page=1).

I got a logitech G5 and use high sensitivity I haven't managed to get any negative acceleration yet (which is a good thing) and I've had no reason to update firmware.

I've got an optical mouse at 400 dpi.
I play at sensitivity 1.4
Works perfectly, never lags or twitches randomly.

Git 400dpi optical!

I had an Ikari optical and it broke in a month. I took good care of it as well.

Yeah, I did, but it never fixed the problem

Guess I'll just buy another MX518 sometime in the near future. That's the mouse I had before the Death Adder and it worked just fine.

Also, I don't plan on trying out a new mouse pad because I don't feel like tossing my icemat aside. It's a $30 mousepad, I'm using it ffs!

P.S. I hate you people and your mice that you've had for years. My mice never last longer than ~9 months before they go borkey >:(
